Your adventure begins in Lhasa, where you'll explore iconic landmarks such as the Potala Palace and the grand monasteries of Sera and Drepung. The scenic beauty of Lhasa is just the beginning; the real excitement unfolds as you drive from Lhasa to Rongbuk, the gateway to Everest Base Camp. Here, your trekking journey truly begins.

For the next six days, you'll trek from Rongbuk Everest Base Camp to Everest Advanced Base Camp, immersing yourself in the awe-inspiring views of the Himalayas. This trek offers an unparalleled opportunity to witness the majestic peaks up close. It’s a rich and challenging adventure that demands preparation and a taste for high-altitude climbing.

Package plans (Itinerary)

1Day 01-Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

Upon arriving at Kathmandu International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our staff and guide. We will then transfer you to your hotel, conveniently located in the heart of Kathmandu. After you have settled in and refreshed, join us for a comprehensive briefing about your upcoming trek. This session will cover important details, answer any questions you might have, and ensure you’re fully prepared for your adventure.

2Day 02-Fly to Lhasa 3,660 m and drive to your hotel.

Early in the morning, after breakfast, you will be transferred from your hotel to Kathmandu International Airport. From there, you'll embark on a breathtaking panoramic flight to Tibet. Upon arrival at Gonggar Airport, our Tibetan guide will be there to welcome you. A scenic drive of less than two hours will bring you to Lhasa, where you’ll check into one of the best hotels in the city. In the afternoon, you’ll have some free time to explore the vibrant Market Square and soak in the local atmosphere.

3Day 03-04-In Lhasa with sightseeing tour at places of great interest.

uided Tour of Lhasa's Historical and Religious Sites Embark on a fascinating guided tour of Lhasa, exploring some of the city’s most significant historical and religious landmarks. Morning Tour: Drepung Monastery: Begin with a short drive west of Lhasa to the hilltop Drepung Monastery. Once home to the high priests and Dalai Lamas before the construction of the Potala Palace, Drepung, which means "heap of rice" in Tibetan, is renowned for its whitewashed buildings and serene prayer halls. Witness monks in deep prayer and explore the monastery’s rich history. Sera Monastery: Next, visit Sera Monastery, where you can observe young monks engaging in lively debates, a traditional method of deepening their theological knowledge. Afternoon Tour: Potala Palace: Tour the magnificent Potala Palace, also known as the 'Heavenly Realm.' With its 1,000 rooms, visitors are guided through the most significant 8 to 10 rooms. Once the residence of the Dalai Lama until the 14th Dalai Lama, the Potala Palace now serves as a museum and stands as a central landmark of Lhasa. Barkhor Market Square: Conclude your tour with a visit to the vibrant Barkhor Market Square. Here, you’ll have time to explore the bustling market and visit the Jokhang Temple, one of Tibet's oldest and most revered religious sites. Your day ends with a deeper appreciation of Lhasa’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.

4Day 05-Drive from Lhasa to Gyangtse (3990 m), 350 kms

Today marks the start of our journey to Everest Base Camp. We’ll drive through the stunning Tibetan landscape, first enjoying the scenic beauty of Yamdrok Lake with its striking turquoise hue. Our route will take us over the Kampa La Pass (5,050 meters) and Karo La Pass (5,045 meters), each offering breathtaking Himalayan views. Upon reaching Gyantse, we’ll visit the historic Kubum Stupa and Pelkor Chode Monastery before settling in for the night at a comfortable hotel in Gyantse.

5Day 06-Drive from Gyangtse to Shalu-Shigatse (3860 m), 90 kms

Today, we continue our journey towards Shigatse, making noteworthy stops along the way. We’ll first visit Shalu Monastery, renowned for its ancient architecture and cultural significance. Next, we’ll explore Tashilhunpo Monastery, the seat of the Panchen Lama, the second highest figure in Tibetan Buddhism, celebrated for its impressive structure and spiritual importance. Upon reaching Shigatse, you'll have time to explore the local market before we settle in for the night at a comfortable hotel.

6Day 07-Drive Shigatse through Sakya to Shegar/Dingri(4350 m)

Very early after breakfast, we’ll begin our drive to Dingri, a windblown settlement that serves as the gateway to Mt. Everest. Along the way, we’ll visit Sakya Monastery, known for its historical and spiritual significance. Upon reaching Dingri, our Nepali Sherpa staff will join us, and our team will set up camp. We will spend the night at the camp, preparing for the next phase of our adventure.

7Day 08-Trek to EBC

Today, our trek begins from the Dingri plains (14,400 feet), following the Ra Chhu stream. We’ll trek beyond Chholling and pass through the village of Lungjhang (14,900 feet). This journey offers stunning views and an immersive experience in the rugged terrain. We will set up camp for the night and rest in preparation for the next day’s adventures.

8Day 09-Trek firm Lungjhang to Lamna La:

Early in the morning, after breakfast, we continue our trek, passing through a small goat or Drokpa encampment. Our route will lead us to Lamna La (15,600 feet), where we will set up camp below the pass. We’ll spend the night at the camp, enjoying the serene high-altitude surroundings.

9Day 10-Trek to Zommug (15700ft)

Today, our trek continues as we climb over Lamna La (16,900 feet), with stunning views of Gyachung Kang and Cho Oyu to the south. After crossing the pass, we descend to Zommug, situated at 15,700 feet, the highest permanent settlement in the Everest region. Zommug serves as a hub for animal husbandry and a supply center for yaks used in Everest expeditions. We will set up camp and spend the night in this unique and vital location.

10Day 11-Trek to Rongbuk

Today, we aim to reach Rongbuk, located south of Zommug. Rongbuk, established by Dzatrul Ngawang Tenzin Norbu in the early 1900s, offers spectacular views of the towering Everest, which stands prominently in full view. We will set up camp and spend the night in this awe-inspiring location.

11Day 12-Trek Everest Base Camp

Today, our goal is to reach Everest Base Camp. The trail will take us past retreat caves, the ruins of the Sherab Chholing nunnery, and the swiftly flowing Dzaka Chu. As we approach the terminus of the Rongbuk Glacier, we’ll arrive at Everest Base Camp. From here, you’ll witness the magnificent expanse of the Rongbuk Glacier and enjoy some of the most spectacular views of the Himalayan range. We will set up camp and spend the night at this iconic location.

12Day 13-Drive EBC to Tingri:

After our memorable time at Everest Base Camp, we begin our journey back to Kathmandu. We’ll drive through the charming village of Chhosang and Phadrukchi, traverse Pang La, and cross the Phung Chhu or Arun River before arriving in Tingri. We’ll spend the night at a guest house in Tingri, resting up for the remainder of our journey.

13Day 14-Drive Tingri to Kerung

After breakfast, we’ll begin our drive across the high Tibetan plateau, heading towards the trade post town of Tingri, a key border town. We will spend the night at a hotel in Tingri, preparing for the next leg of our journey.

14Day 15-Drive from Kerung to Kathmandu

Today, we plan to return to Kathmandu. Our representative will meet you at the Friendship Bridge and drive you back to Kathmandu. Along the way, you'll enjoy breathtaking views of the mountains, rivers, and forests, making for a scenic and memorable journey.

15Day 16-In Kathmandu Rest day or shopping day

Today is yours to relax or explore Kathmandu at your own pace. You can take the opportunity to rest, do some shopping, or visit the city's vibrant markets and cultural sites.

16Day 17-Depart Nepal for international flight home-ward bound.

On your last day in the land of Everest, after an unforgettable adventure and incredible memories from the Everest Base Camp trek, you will depart from the hotel according to your flight schedule. Our Nepal High Point staff will transfer you to Kathmandu International Airport for your flight home or onward journey to your next destination.

Here’s a complete equipment checklist for trekking in Himalaya area. Some of them may differe according to destination, we will let you know the specific details according to trip need. Proper preparation and equipment for the conditions will go a long way to ensuring you have a great trekking experience.  What follows is a pretty comprehensive list and will make sure you are covered in the coldest months of the year.
