Introduction:

Embark on the Everest Three High Passes Trekking with Nepal High Point Treks, an exhilarating journey through the world’s highest mountains. This adventure offers stunning panoramic views of the Khumbu Valley, where you’ll traverse three spectacular high passes—Kongma-la, Cho-la, and Renjo-la. Ideal for seasoned trekkers, this trek requires good physical fitness to handle the harsh cold and high altitudes, with challenges including rocky, moraine, and snowy terrain.

Your journey begins with a scenic flight to Lukla, followed by a trek through charming Sherpa villages enriched with Buddhist culture, reaching Namche Bazaar for acclimatization. Continue to Thyangboche Monastery, surrounded by lush green forests, before venturing into the windswept realms of ice and glaciers. Cross the Kongma-la Pass, then visit Everest Base Camp, and later tackle the Cho-la Pass to enter the serene Gokyo Valley, home to tranquil glacial lakes and stunning views of Mt. Cho-Oyu and the Ngozumba Glacier.

The trek concludes with the Renjo-la Pass, leading to the remote Thame village. After this final adventure, return through the green woodlands, past Namche Bazaar, and back to Lukla for your early morning flight to Kathmandu. This journey promises a grand and fulfilling experience, immersing you in the breathtaking beauty and cultural richness of the Everest region.

Outline Itinerary:

Day 01:Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing (visit world heritage site)

Day 03: Fly to Lukla 2,820 m and walk to Phakding 2,560 m - 04 hrs.

Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 06 hrs. 

Day 05: At Namche rest day for acclimatization and short hike.     

Day 06: Trek to Thyangboche monastery 3,867 m - 05 hrs.

Day 07: Trek to Dingboche 4,345 m - 05 hrs.

Day 08: From Dingboche walk to Chukung 4,750m - 04 hrs.

Day 09: Cross Kongma-la 5,535 m to reach Lobuche 4,930 m - 08 hrs.

Day 10: Trek to Everest base camp 5,364 m and back to Gorakshep- 06 hrs.

Day 11: Hike to Kalapathar 5,545 m and trek to Dzongla 4, 680 m - 06 hrs.

Day 12: Cross Cho-la 5,420 m and descend to Thagnak 4,780 m - 07 hrs.

Day 13: Trek to Gokyo main third Lake 4,800 m - 04 hrs. 

Day 14: Morning cross Renjo-La 5,464 m walk to Lungdhen 4,380 m- 07 hrs.

Day 15: Trek to Thame 3,880 m - 05 hrs.

Day 16: Trek to Monjo 2,860m via Namche Bazaar - 06 hrs.

Day 17: Trek to Lukla via Phakding village - 06 hrs.

Day 18: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

Day 19:  Depart Nepal for international flight home-ward bound.

 

Package plans (Itinerary)

1Day 01-Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

On reaching at Kathmandu international airport received by our staff and guide with warm welcome then transfer to your hotel in centre of Kathmandu city, after getting refreshed in your rooms join for group briefing regarding your stay in Nepal, where Nepal High Point Treks guides will provide information on treks-local lodge-hotels-culture and other necessary information related to this adventure Everest Three High Passes trekking.

2Day 02-Kathmandu sightseeing (World heritage site)

Sightseeing around Kathmandu, as the valley is steeped with many world heritage sites and important monuments and religious-historical sites. You will visit Pashupatinath (Hindu Temple), Baudanath stupa, Swyambhunath stupa (Mokey temple), Patan durbar square.

3Day 03-Fly to Lukla 2,820 m and walk to Phakding 2,615 m - 04 hrs.

Early morning Nepal High Point guide and staff will pick you from your hotel for short drive to Kathmandu domestic airport, completing security formalities board in a small aircraft (Dornier / Twin Otter or similar plane) where short and scenic flight heads eastbound facing views of Himalayan range with includes Mt. Everest, and then lands at Lukla Tenzing and Hillary airport named after legendary mountaineers. From here having refreshing morning break walk continues on a gradual trail with some down-hill and short ups to reach first overnight stop in Phakding village, a nice Sherpa village situated above near Dudh-Kosi River. 

4Day 04-Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 06 hrs.

A slow an easy morning walks leads to Sagarmatha National Park entrance gate, with time here for refreshing stop then cross a bridge to reach at Jorsalle the last village before Namche Bazaar (possible lunch stop), from here walk on river bed within forested area and then climb from the last high bridge to reach at famous and colorful Namche Bazaar. Where walk leads to climbing on winding uphill facing views of peaks, at Namche check into a nice and cozy lodge, with time to wander around its many well-stocked shops, Namche Bazaar the hub and main town or large village of Khumbu area where colorful and busy Saturday market held once a week.

5Day 05-At Namche rest day for acclimatization and short hike.

Rest day at Namche for acclimatization before heading towards higher terrains, with various options for short walks to catch best views of high peaks will be a good hike to Everest View Hotel, a four hours walks both ways, rewards you with an exact excellent panorama of mountains with Everest and magnificent Amadablam.  At Namche visit the interesting museum with much information of Khumbu Sherpa, culture, flora-fauna as well of mountaineering expedition history with the rest of the afternoon at leisure. 

 

6Day 06-Trek to Thyangboche monastery 3,867 m - 05 hrs.

After pleasant and enjoyable time at Namche morning walk leads to a short climb and then on good wide trail facing views of Everest and Amadablam with array of peaks, as our route leads into woodland then descend towards Imjatse River to reach at a small place in Phunke-Tenga, possible lunch stop in the middle of a wood. Afternoon climb into forested areas facing views of Kangtenga-Tharmasarku and other peaks as walk brings at a wide open plateau in Thyangboche with its beautiful colorful Buddhist monastery, with time to visit the interior of the monastery where you can witness monks and priest on religious activities with prayer. A scenic spot surrounded by high peaks with views of Everest and magnificent looking Amadablam amidst a forest of rhododendron-magnolia-oaks-juniper-birch and fir tree lines, truly a great place for overnight stop. In the month of October-November great colorful festival takes place called Mani-Rimdu with mask dancers by monks of the monastery.

7Day 07-Trek to Dingboche 4,345 m - 05 hrs.

Morning catching the views of surrounding peaks, where walk leads downhill to Deoboche, within the green forested area and fun rather walk to reach Imjatse River and then cross over a steel bridge, from here end of tree lines as walk leads into windswept dry and arid country to reach Pangboche. The last permanent village on route Everest base camp where other settlement with many good lodges to cater needs of travelers and trekkers. Slowly walk leads past Pangboche heading higher with ups and down to a river, with the last climb of the day for an hour to reach a scenic Imjatse valley at Dingboche facing North Side of Amadablam with views of Island Peak towards east direction.

8Day 08-From Dingboche walk to Chukung 4,750m - 04 hrs.

From Dingboche, a short day walks to Chukung heading east the last settlement of Khumbu, at Chukung afternoon free or hike to Chukung Ri for more super views of the mountains and preparation for next early morning adventure towards Kongma-la pass.

 

9Day 09-Cross Kongma-la 5,535 m to reach Lobuche 4,930 m - 08 hrs.

After Chukung, adventure starts crossing first high pass with early morning climb uphill for an hour leading over icy path, here onwards on rocky trail to Kongma-la, close to Kongma or Mehra peak, after rest cross Kongma-la pass located between Mt. Nuptse, Mihara and Pokalde peaks, after a tough climb walk towards Khumbu glacier with short steep climb up at terminal debris of Khumbu Glacier to Lobuche for overnight stop and in the comfort of nice lodge after great Big Day walk.

10Day 10-Trek to Everest base camp 5,364 m and back to Gorakshep- 06 hrs.

Adventure today leads to our goal at Everest base camp, as morning walk follows a flat valley with a low climb to reach further and then a steep climb to reach a ridge near above Khumbu glacier. As walk continues over rocky moraines and ice to reach scenic flat areas at Gorakshep located at the bottom of Kalapathar and Mt. Pumori on route Everest base camp, at Gorakshep with a short break. From Gorakshep heading further east to reach to reach highlight destination at Everest Base Camp with marvelous views of Khumbu Ice-Falls, glaciers looking above peaks of Nuptse, Everest, and Lhotse, in high mountaineering season of April to May this grand spot flooded with tents of expeditions. After an exciting time achieving our target walk back to Gorakshep for an overnight stop before heading downhill back to Lukla with a climb of Kalapathar.

11Day 11-Hike to Kalapathar 5,545 m and trek to Dzongla 4, 680 m - 06 hrs.

Early morning before breakfast climb on ta op rocky hill above 5,545 m to reach the highest spot of the adventure, where you will be rewarded with a glorious panorama of giant surrounding peaks with close views of Everest and Mt. Pumori. After a great wonderful moment descend back to Gorakshep for breakfast and then carry on trekking down to Lobuche valley and continue to walk to the base of Cho-la pass at Dzongla for an overnight stop in one of its nice lovely lodge.

12Day 12-Cross Cho-la 5,420 m and descend to Thagnak 4,780 m - 07 hrs.

Second High Pass of the adventure to cross over Cho-la pass after an early breakfast climb on sta eep path to reach at the top of Cho-la and then crossing over a glacier on the east side.  The pass quite challenging to cross in snow conditions, from the top descend carefully to Thagnak for overnight stop a small isolated spot with few small lodges.

13Day 13-Trek to Gokyo main third Lake 4,800 m - 04 hrs.

After a great crossing, morning on an easy trail to Gokyo walking beneath Ngozumba glacier, slowly heading at first lake and second lakes of Gokyo, and then reaching a third lake also called Dudh Pokhari near the bank where summer settlement of Gokyo located. 

14Day 14-Morning cross Renjo-La 5,464 m walk to Lungdhen 4,380 m- 07 hrs.

Last final traverse and crossing of the adventure heading towards Renjo-la, with early morning climb at the end of Gokyo Lake, facing views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Cholatse and Taboche, and then cross Renjo La pass, on reaching at the top panorama of Mt. Cho-Oyu and other high peaks, after enjoying views downhill to a small settlement at Lungden for overnight stop located on-route Nangpa-la pass to Tibet.

15Day 15-Trek to Thame 3,880 m - 05 hrs.

After completing all three great high passes of Khumbu within Everest, morning walk downhill to Marlung village, and continue to the sleepy and quiet village at Thame located west of Namche Bazaar, at Thame with time to visit its old monastery believed to be of more than 500 years old history.

16Day 16-Trek to Monjo 2,860m via Namche Bazaar - 06 hrs.

From Thame, an easy walk on nearly flat ground to reach at Thamo village with great at the scenic walk on completing our memorable and exciting adventure crossing all three high passes of Everest, a slow enjoyable walk from here on without worry of high altitude sickness as route leads losing elevation every hour of walks. From Thamo reaching back into green woodland, from here lovely walks of downs and ups and on the scenic trail to Namche Bazaar and continue a talk downhill at Monjo for ocean right stop before Lukla.

17Day 17-Trek to Lukla via Phakding - 06 hrs.

Our last final day of the adventure with long day treks to reach Lukla starting with descending to reach a river valley as walk continues past Phakding with last short climb to reach at last overnight stay in Lukla before flying back to Kathmandu.

18Day 18-Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

Having early breakfast where interesting short scenic flight brings you back at Kathmandu, as you depart from Lukla early morning, as air journey leads you with an amazing panorama of mountains and then landing at Kathmandu airport with short drivel back to your respective hotels. 

19Day 19-Depart Nepal for international flight home-ward bound.

Last day in the country of high Everest within massive Himalaya, with an amazing experience and wonderful memories and adventure on Everest Three High Passes trek, then depart from the hotel as per your flight time Nepal High Point staff transfers you to Kathmandu international airport for your homeward flight or to next respective countries.

Here’s a complete rundown of what to bring if you’re planning a trek to Everest Base Camp or any other tea-house trek in Nepal.  Proper preparation and equipment for the conditions will go a long way to ensuring you have a great trekking experience.  What follows is a pretty comprehensive list and will make sure you are covered in the coldest months of the year. IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS AND ITEMS

  • Valid passport, 2 extra passport size photos, airline tickets
  • Separate photocopies of passport, visa form (easily obtained at Kathmandu airport), proof of insurance
