Chulu East Peak Climbing offers an exciting combination of a classic trek around the Annapurna massif, starting from the Marsyangdi Valley and crossing the Thorung La before descending into the Kali Gandaki Valley towards Pokhara. This climb is technically straightforward, but climbers should be familiar with essential equipment such as crampons, harnesses, ice axes, knot-tying, and rope handling. Much of the ascent will involve walking roped together, particularly during glacier crossings.

The North East Ridge is the standard route for reaching the peak, starting from Base Camp at 5,334 meters on the moraine. Most climbers complete the ascent and return to Base Camp in a single long day, though some opt to set up a higher camp below the summit. Chulu Far East (6,059 meters) is also visible from this area.

There can be confusion surrounding the names and locations of Chulu Peak, Chulu West, and Chulu East, as the region features several summits that are not accurately represented on current maps. The Chulu massif is bordered by the Marsyangdi River to the south and the Mesokanta La. Many climbers find it challenging to differentiate between these peaks, as the area includes at least four prominent summits. Generally, when granted permission to climb either Chulu East or West, there is the possibility to attempt nearby peaks as well.
